The building that we now call “The Woods” was built in 2000. Contrary to popular belief, it was originally built to be a nightclub, not a church. The project fell through, leaving a vacant shell of a building. In August of 2005, Russ Kralovetz acquired the building at a foreclosure auction. While finalizing plans for the building, he stored pontoon boats inside through the winter. In the fall of 2006, plans were set and construction of The Woods as we know it began. The bar, originally from “Ye Olde Oak Bar” in Marinette, is made of Carpathian wood and is over 120 years old. Yes, the ceiling is real copper, brought in from the Chicago area! On April 26th, 2007, our restaurant doors opened, and our history of great food and service began.
